The certification program helps the public and other professionals find an attorney who have demonstrated proficiency in specialized fields. Pursuant to New Jersey Court Rule 1:39-6(d) a Certified Attorney who receives a referral from an attorney who is not a partner or associate in that attorney’s firm or office may divide a fee for legal services with the referring attorney without regard to the services performed or the responsibility assumed by the referring attorney, so long as said referral fee is reasonable.
